Processing Prophetic and Apostolic Revelation by Bo Salisbury

By Bo Salisbury
When new revelation from the Lord first penetrates our minds, we tend to justify old beliefs using human philosophy, traditions of men and scripture taken out of context. But if that revelation connects with our spirit and we entertain its validity, it germinates and begins to grow, at which point our current paradigm begins to lose its power to limit our understanding of truth.

The Lord wants to completely uproot that which stands in the way of our knowledge of Truth, but we often embrace a portion of what He reveals to us, while holding onto as much of the old paradigm as we can. And when we attempt to implement new revelation, we all-too-often mix it with fleshly motivations and methods, only to see minimal results in our lives.

God is raising up a new generation of prophetic and apostolic voices who are not satisfied with what is, but are compelled to pursue what can and should be. They are first allowing the sword of the Lord to penetrate deep in their own hearts, cutting away the remains of old beliefs, practices and values. They are allowing their motivations and methods to be recalibrated according to heaven's design. And they are welcoming a depth of revelation in their lives that enables them to see mixtures in the church that are contaminating the flow of the Spirit and which have minimized our authority to invoke lasting change in society.

God is stirring a passion in this prophetic and apostolic company that won't be satisfied with less than what God intends for us. And as they begin to challenge the level of revelation that is commonly accepted in much of the church, even in some prophetic and apostolic camps, strong resistance will be released against them from those who refuse to allow the spirit of the world and/or religious motivation to be uprooted from within. But God will give them a spirit like Stephen had in Acts 6 where "…they couldn't stand up to his wisdom or the Spirit by whom he spoke."

In fact, this fresh release of revelation that will confront what is limiting our present prophetic and apostolic mandates will cause some to move into a greater depth of purity in their hearts, as well as greater productivity in relationships, accuracy of doctrine and effectiveness in ministry, but others will dig their heels in the ground only to slip further into the grip of religious traditions and carnal pleasures.

Let Your Kingdom Come

Those who continue to resist new levels of truth and subsequently attack the messengers that proclaim it, will begin to diminish in their effectiveness in ministry, even in areas where they previously excelled. Every new move of God is fought by the previous one, to some degree.  Church history confirms this time and time again. Some move on to greater truth but some refuse to acknowledge that they don't already know it all. That's because their identity is wrapped up in a measure of truth, not in the Person of Truth.

Lord, awaken us to Your thoughts and ways, which are "higher than ours." Raise up those who will "reform the reformers," those who have an appreciation for the ground that has been gained and that which has been built based on previous revelation, but who also have a divine discontent because there is much more ground to take.  Give us a generation of prophetic and apostolic pioneers who are fearless to confront that which stands in the way of a greater revelation of who You are and subsequent Kingdom advancement in our lives, churches and ultimately the world.

Father, let us not forget what You have already spoken, continuing to build according to the revelation revealed, but also give us an ear to hear spiritual frequencies that are currently beyond our capacity to detect them.  Soften our hearts so we're pliable to the reformation you are accelerating in this season. Direct our focus and establish our identity in the fullness of Who You are, not in what we have accomplished in Your name.  Deliver us from our pride so we can humbly receive all that You have in store for us!  We surrender our all to You in exchange for all that You are!  Let Your Kingdom Come!
