Intercession by Annette Capps

By Annette Capps
"Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us." Romans 8:33-34 "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:14-16

"Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us." Romans 8:33-34

"Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." Hebrews 4:14-16

In the above scriptures we see that Jesus is at the right hand of God, and as our great high priest He is touched by the feeling of our infirmities and has mercy or compassion for us. The throne room of God is full of His grace and mercy. We should never be afraid to go there, even when we have sinned. For there we find compassion and forgiveness, not condemnation.

Hebrews 4:16 says we can obtain mercy in time of need. I believe that means either for ourselves or others. There have been times when the spirit of intercession has come upon me, and as I prayed, I saw myself standing in the throne room. In the natural I would not have mercy or compassion in certain situations, but Jesus does. In the throne room I obtained that mercy for the individual and it was imparted to them in the Spirit.

You see, as you speak forth words under the unction or anointing of the Holy Spirit, those words are full of power. Jesus said, “The Words I speak, they are spirit and they are life.” As Jesus intercedes through you, the words of spirit and life permeate the atmosphere surrounding the individual who has a need. The words of the Spirit bring life to their spirits and cause circumstances surrounding them to change according to the will of God.

Never underestimate the power of intercession. Remember, it is done in the spirit realm. Most of the time the manifestation in the natural realm comes later. The seed is planted in the spirit, then it takes root and grows.

You can always and at any time pray with your spirit (in tongues with the Holy Spirit giving you utterance) about any situation. But when the Holy Spirit moves upon you in intercession, there will be a different anointing, a stronger anointing, and you’ll know Jesus is making intercession through you. You may or may not know who it is for. You never know whose life could be at stake.

Intercession is one of the most vital parts of ministry because it deals directly with the spirit world. Through intercession demon spirits are loosed from their stronghold. During intercession the Spirit of God speaks forth not only in power and authority through our tongues, but also in wisdom to call the will of God into being.

The weapons of our warfare are powerful — By praying in the spirit and praying the Word of God, we are giving God an entrance to intervene in the circumstances of this earth.

It is not people we are wrestling against. It is in the spirit realm which Paul refers to as "wicked spirits in high places." But the Word of God is more powerful and greater is He Who is in us than he who is in the world.

The battle is already won. Stand and declare the victory!
