As we're running this race called life, it's helpful to remember where we are headed. If we are in Christ and are running this race the way He wants us to, then we are bound for glory. In the midst of our daily trials and tribulations, though, we quickly understand that our physical bodies have limitations, aches, pains, diseases and will eventually expire. I'm glad there is part of us that will live on forever. That is the real essence of us, our souls and spirits. It's hard not to focus on the fact that suffering is part of living in our current bodies of flesh, but suffering for Christ is not losing. It is winning. Romans 8:18 (NLT) tell us that "what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will reveal to us later."
The King's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. (Psalms 45:13) This is our hour and season to be that radiant Bride, to shine forth the goodness of God. He delights in drawing close to His Bride. His eyes are always on us, and His beloved shall flourish once more - brighter, sweeter, lovelier, more beautiful, more glorious, purer, increasingly radiant, and fairer than any other! They shall carry the glorious presence of their Lord and shall flourish forever in the courts of our God! You can hear their cries from the secret place singing as one: "Yea, he is altogether lovely." (Song of Solomon 5:16).
There is a huge emphasis in the evangelical church on evangelism, church planting and the like. This is good since the church should never be separated from its mission of proclaiming Jesus to this lost world. In light of this, I believe the church will fall short of its goals unless we incorporate signs, wonders and miracles into our methodological norm as we evangelize. The Scriptures are replete with passages equating the knowledge of God with His display of the supernatural. For example, the Old Testament is full of examples like Abraham and Sarah having a child past the normal biological age, Moses doing signs and wonders in Egypt so that His power may be demonstrated to the world (Rom. 9:17) and Elijah calling down fire from heaven to demonstrate that the Lord is the true God (1 Kings 18).
This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." Jeremiah 6:16ââ'¬"17 NIV The Lord is opening the "ancient paths" to those who want to go deeper in intimacy and higher in spiritual wisdom, revelation and understanding. Your suffering and dark nights of the soul are coming to an end. For those who want this, "... ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." There is a season of rest coming but you have to battle to get into it. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest. Hebrews 4:11 KJV The Lord is calling people to step up right now and contend and battle for what is coming. As you come into agreement with the Lord and others in prayer, you can battle from a place of rest. The time of rest will come after first of January.
In the parable of the sower in Mark 4, Jesus reveals that the seed is the Word of God, man's heart is the soil, and Satan comes to take away the Word that is sown: "The sower sows the word. And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts." (Mark 4:14-15) In Mark 4:17-19, Jesus reveals that when affliction, persecution, cares of this world, deceitfulness of riches, and lusts of other things enter in, they choke the Word so it becomes unfruitful in your life.
There are two anointings, and only one is God's. Some people wonder just what the anointing is. A secular way to describe it would be like the "chemistry" two people have together. They could just be friends, or they could be boyfriend and girlfriend, or an "electric" feeling that has an energy like you find among good chums or working together on a project. God's anointing and the devil's anointing also has an "energy," and you could be attracted to it or repelled by it. Depends on what is going on inside of you! Energy and gifting is multiplied.
In general, most deliverance ministry and spiritual warfare prayers fall short of what we need to bind, restrict, clean up and clear up the spiritual atmosphere. People stay in bondage because we don't go deep enough and far enough in using our authority and casting out demons. We get bored and stagnant in our prayer time and don't partner with the Holy Spirit to listen to what He says needs to be prayed out. I remember a mother who kept trying to take charge of her child's health by praying in her mind, "I rebuke you, Satan." I told her she must speak out and decree into the situation, but she persisted that rebuking the devil in her mind was enough.
On many occasions I have preached in churches where I saw the same peculiar vision while standing in the pulpit. I saw in my spirit many tangled and gnarly roots growing up from the floor of the building and wrapping themselves around the chairs and walls. The roots covered the doors, the stage, the pulpit and even the ceiling. It appeared as though these invasive roots were choking the very life out of the house of God. I have come to know that what I was seeing was evidence of a spirit of religion. And in each case, I understood it as a warningâ°"because the life of the Holy Spirit cannot flourish in a church that is controlled by this cold, dark deadness.
He'll play on our insecurities and, like a broken record, bombard us with the same things, over and over. He'll tell us things like: "You're always messing things up—how can God love you?" "You'll never be as good as your brother or sister." Or maybe you've heard this one: "You can't do that—you're not smart enough!" He wants us to feel bad about ourselves, then compare ourselves with everybody else. But here's the problem: If we don't recognize his lies and replace them with truth from God's Word, we begin to believe these things about ourselves and begin saying them out of our own mouths.
When most people think of a Biblical "shield of faith," they picture the shield from Roman times which is what the Apostle Paul would have been thinking of when he admonished the church at Ephesus to put on the whole armor of God. The shield, sword, and helmet of Ephesians 6:10-18 are indicating a march into battle. When using this image of me holding the shield in front of me, I ran into a problem at night when I was asleep. How can I hold a shield of faith for protection when I am asleep???
